The CRES Amateur Radio Club held a meeting on Wednesday 19 May 1999 in the Franklin Room. The meeting was called to order at 11:40 AM by President Jerry Scott. Those present were: K9RV, KE8QN, N8ZOG, K8RSP, KC8LUV, KD8ZG, KB8DEO, KA8ZRT, N8IQT, and KD8WK. The Treasurer reported the club had $848.21 in checking, and 23.29 in petty cash. The meeting minutes from the previous meeting and the Treasurer's report were both approved. Rob Stampfli/KD8WK reported he had received several mailings of club QSL cards from the new "W" letter manager and placed them in the club room. Someone needs to take action and issue QSL's in return. Jerry reported the key situation for the club room has been straightened out: The new Trustee, Art Grandle/KD8ZG, had received his key. The Vice President still needs a key and the club needs to update key ownership with building services. Art, Jerry, and Bill Ludwig/KE8QN take care of this action item. The dipole antenna is still down. Mike Stansbery/WD8EBS will contact maintenance to re-hang it. Although the club sent a letter to Ed Hines regarding the proposed RF restrictions for Building 30, we have heard nothing and, so far as we know, no policy change has been officially made. We will keep members apprised of the situation as we hear. Art indicated the next VE Exam session will be held at the Columbus Hamfest, Aladin Shrine Temple, on August 7th. VEs will meet at the Bob Evans in Gahanna at 7:30 AM. Check-in at 9:00 AM. Art indicated the FCC is still reviewing proposed changes with respect to ham radio ticket classes, and it is expected the date for a decision will not be before June at this point. If changes are forthcoming, they may impact this exam session, and we will have to hold a pre-meeting to educate the VEs. The next Field Day exercise will be held over the weekend of June 26- 27. Jerry will coordinate the event and send the usual letter asking for permission to use the area behind the Lucent as our Field Day site. Art will look into getting a trailer for the CW tent. Dave Woolf/K8RSP may provide a satellite rig. Much discussion and explanation of Field Day ensued. Marilyn Speakman/N8ZOG inquired about the postponed fox hunt. The fox had a family event which precluded his participation. The hunt will be rescheduled and we will send out an announcement. The meeting was adjourned at 12:30 PM. Rob Stampfli CRES-ARC Secretary
