The CRES Amateur Radio Club held a meeting over lunch on 15 March 2000. The meeting was called to order by President Jerry Scott/K9RV at 11:47 AM. Those in attendance were K9RV, KE8QN, KD8ZG, WD8CZG, N8YXK, KA8ZRT and KD8WK. There were no additions or corrections to last month's Secretary's report. The Treasurer reports that the club currently has $997.10 at Telhio, $23.61 in petty cash, $9.51 on deposit with the CRES Club, and $60 in undeposited dues. Under Old Business, the club discussed proposed programs for upcoming meetings. Two programs -- one on antennas (probably to be held in the summer) and one on design of amplifiers using tubes -- were proposed. Art Grandle/KD8ZG and Bill Ludwig/KE8QN gave an update on the club's VE program: There will be a CRES-ARC sponsored VE Exam on 22 April 2000 at the Parkview Presbyterian Church on Livingston Ave, commencing at 9 AM. This exam session will be by preregistration only, and will be limited to 35 people. In addition, the club will hold an exam session during the Columbus Hamfest at the Aladdin Shrine Temple on 5 August 2000. Bill indicated that there are two non-club-sponsored VE exam sessions that are being offered that may also be of interest to members: A "paperwork only" session for those hams who have completed the requirements for a new-licensing upgrade prior to 15 April will be offered at Universal Amateur Radio on that date, and a full exam session will be offered in Lancaster (by a VE team which includes CRES-ARC club-member Allen Sellers) on 16 April. Jerry indicated that Field Day was coming up and we need to start planning for it. He is looking for volunteers to take the lead for this event. Gordy mentioned that the HeathKit WWV-synced clocks in the club room had lost their display around the first of the year. They appear to be receiving normally, and it was thought this might be Y2K related. Art and Doug Needham/KA8ZRT agreed to try to diagnose them. Art and Gordy indicated that the club repeater will exhibit some interesting changes on or around 1 April for those who tune in. Gordy inquired about the Club's CQWE results. Jerry will provide a hard- copy of the results to Gordy, who agreed to post the same on the club's web site. [ http://eo.cb.lucent.com/radio/w8zpf_wp.htm ] Jerry indicated that there will be a meeting of the Ohio Area Repeater Council at Universal on 8 April, 9:30 AM where dues-paying members (the club pays yearly dues to the Council) will vote to elect the next director. Art is planning to attend. He asks club members who have information on why we should either support or not support Fred R. Vobbe/W8HDU or Ken Bird/W8SMK to contact him. The meeting was adjourned at 12:20 PM. Rob Stampfli CRES-ARC Secretary
