The CRES Amateur Radio Club held a meeting over lunch on Wednesday, 21 June 2000. The meeting was called to order by President Jerry Scott/K9RV at 11:45 AM. Those in attendance were: K9RV, WD8CZG, WB7AIZ, KD8ZG, KA8ZRT, KD8WK, KB8DEO, KD8BJ, W8ERW, K8GZ, and KC8HIH. The minutes from the last meeting were approved. The Treasurer reported $976.30 was on deposit in Telhio after renewing the subscription to CQ Magazine, $23.61 in petty cash, $9.51 on deposit with the CRES Club, and $90 in undeposited dues. The Treasurer's report was approved. Art Grandle/KD8ZG reported the VE Exam results from the exams conducted in April had finally shown up in the FCC database. The next exam session to be conducted by the club will be Saturday, August 5th at the Columbus Hamfest. The exams will commence at 9:30 AM, but Art wants all VEs present at 9:00 AM. There may be a breakfast meeting announced later for those desiring to get together to eat prior to the session. Art reported no progress has been made on the recalcitrant Heathkit WWV clock. Next, a discussion of the upcoming Field Day event took place. Jerry indicated Field Day will take place this weekend, June 24-25, from 2 PM EDT Saturday until 2 PM EDT Sunday. Saturday will start with breakfast at 8 AM at the Bob Evans located at Reyn-New Albany Road (Lancaster Ave.) and Broad Street. On site setup will commence at 9 AM. The club's TS-850 will be used for the SSB station, and Jerry will provide a TS-140 for the CW station. He indicated a trailer had been secured for the CW facility, and two laptops will be available for logging. The club would like someone to volunteer to set-up and operate a packet station, satellite station, and/or ATV station for the extra points and the benefit of those present. Jerry also desired someone to volunteer to maintain a visitor log to the site. Participants must provide their own food and soft drinks they wish to consume on the premises. The use of the facility behind the plant has been approved, and Lucent will furnish the generator. Jim Yoder will bring extra gasoline. The area has been mowed, and Jerry requested that it be treated for ticks. Contact Jerry if you have any questions or would like to volunteer for any aspect of the event, or just show up -- the more the merrier. The meeting was adjourned at 12:25 PM. Respectfully submitted, Rob Stampfli/KD8WK CRES-ARC Secretary/Treasurer
