The CRES Amateur Radio Club held a dinner meeting at Donatos Pizza, Brice and Livingston, Reynoldsburg, OH on 5 December 2001. The meeting was called to order by Vice President David Jeffords at 6:30 PM. The following people were in attendance: KD8WK, NU7X, K8RSP, WD8EBS, K8TWH, WA8HPW, K8TX, K8NU, WA8LBZ, K8KJ, KD8ZG, KE8QN, K8ON, K9RV, N4DB, K8FMN, N8ZOG, N8ZKU, and WA8MWA. The first order of business was to discuss and vote on a proposed amendment to the Constitution. Rob Stampfli/KD8WK explained that the proposed amendment was the minimal change necessary to allow a new set of officers to be elected. One can assume that the Executive Committee will revisit the task of updating antiquated parts of the Constitution and Bylaws when the they meet next year. The proposal put forth by the Executive Committee involved changing the wording of Article III, Section 1, from: "The regular membership of the CRES-ARC shall be open to all persons who work at either 6200 East Broad Street or 6400 East Broad Street and who are interested in amateur radio." to: "The regular membership of the CRES-ARC shall be open to all licensed Radio Amateurs who currently work for, or are retired from, any part of the pre-divestiture Bell System, or any company created therefrom." After some discussion, and with the unanimous consent of those present, the proposed change was modified to read simply: "The regular membership of the CRES-ARC shall be open to all licensed Radio Amateurs." This change was voted on and passed unanimously by the following people, who were the only ones present who were qualified to vote on it under the original constitution: K9RV, KD8ZG, and NV7X. The change was later approved by the Executive Committee, and the Secretary immediately certified the change as official, thereby modifying the Club's Constitution. The next order of business was election of the 2002 set of officers for the Club. For President, Gordy Lashley/ WD8CZG had earlier agreed to run and Mike Stansbery/WD8EBS was nominated from the floor. For Vice President, the names of David Jeffords/K8ON and Mike Rauh/NV7X were placed in nomination. For Secretary-Treasurer, Rob Stampfli/KD8WK, and for Lab Manger, Jerry Scott/K9RV, agreed to run. The result of the election are: President: Mike Stansbery/WD8EBS Vice President: Mike Rauh/NV7X Sec/Treas: Rob Stampfli/KD8WK Lab Manager: Jerry Scott/K9RV Immed Past Pres: Gordy Lashley/WD8CZG Those elected will take office on January 1. The above, along with Station Trustee Art Grandle/KD8ZG, will make up the Club's Executive Committee. The next order of business was a readout of the CQ-WE contest. K9RV indicated 15 people had participated, and, of those, the top 10 scores were combined for our location score. The top two scorers from CB were K8RSP and K8LJ. It was generally conceded that the CB location was the most prominent one in the contest. Next, KD8ZG gave a report on this month's VE exam session: We had 11 examiners and 10 examinees. The exams yielded five new Technicians, plus an Extra and a General class upgrade. The next session will be at the Parkview Presbyterian Church and will likely be held the 6th of April. Finally, KD8ZG, WD8EBS, and K8RSP gave an update on the repeater. Several capacitors were replaced in the voter and it seems to be working better now. The packet burst we sometimes here comes from KB8UVN. K8RSP and WD8EBS are trying to run this ham down to determine why he is transmitting packet on our input frequency. The meeting was adjourned at 7:26 PM. Respectfully submitted, Rob Stampfli/KD8WK CRES-ARC Secretary/Treasurer
